Hello! I'm Cate, founder and head genealogist at

The House at Pemaquid Corner

and I've been captivated by genealogy and family history for as long as I can remember.

I've visited cemeteries, ancestral homes, and even colonial sites where my ancestors once lived and worked. I've recovered stories we thought were lost to time, reunited someone very important to me with his father's family after 50 years of separation, and have been evaluating sources to trace my roots back to pre-colonial immigration from the United Kingdom. And that's just in my own family.

One branch of my ancestors traces back to colonial Pemaquid, Maine, where I still visit as often as I can to see the family who remain there. This town, and all of Bristol, Maine, holds such importance to my family's past that I wanted to honor it in the name of my business— The House at Pemaquid Corner, while echoing the beloved A.A. Milne story, The House at Pooh Corner.

Memorial reads: "Sproul Memorial Wall & Gates in memory of Eugene Bradford Sproul 1854-1926 and his wife Susan Wells 1855-1929 by members of their family."

My professional genealogy work includes multi-generational family research, legal documentation, and comprehensive heir identification. I currently focus on real estate heirship cases in partnership with distressed property acquisition realtors across the United States, locating both deceased and living heirs through vital records, genealogical databases, property records, and targeted online research. I produce fully sourced family trees, detailed documentation, and fact sheets prepared for legal and professional use.

Alongside this work, I also take on what I call “Side Quests”—custom projects that blend research, planning, and problem-solving. These can include educational consulting, travel planning, historical or archival research, and other tailored projects that don’t fit neatly into a single category but benefit from structured, in-depth support.
